Becoming A Father

The day you find out you are becoming a father can be one of the biggest moments of your life. Especially the first time. And it will definitely be life changing if it wasn’t something you were planning.

Throughout our years as boys we often live with little to no responsibility, or if we do have responsibilities in our lives we aren’t always held accountable for them. Fatherhood will change you. And I promise you that if you approach the emotions on a positive note it will be the best thing that ever happened to you regardless of the situation.

A few things that are important to start thinking about when you become a father.

Your emotional health is critical. If you have things you are purposely avoiding, perhaps relating to your relationship with your own father, you need to start leaning in and working through them.

Your physical health. Especially if your physical health was not something you invested in previously. Your child will need you to be physically ready to parent them.

Your career.  It’s time to start thinking about your career, your future and your finances. You are going to have a little human soon that will rely on you to provide.

Overall, it’s time to start appreciating those around you that love you, and all of the things in life that make you happy. Your well being is critical to your child’s.

If you are about to embark on parenting as a single parent, you need to remember that you need to live your life as well.
